At Nizwa Grand Mall (NGM), men, women and children enjoyed the three-day events
related to traffic safety rules and regulations, social and health awareness and fun games in their best traditional dresses.
The event ‘Family and Child Traffic Forum’ organised under the patronage of H E Sheikh Hamad bin Salim bin Saif al Aghbari – Wali of Nizwa, in collaboration with the Committees of Traffic Safety the Royal Court Affairs and the Nizwa wilayat.
The volunteers at the traffic police counters in Central Plaza (centre of the mall) explained to the visitors about the importance of traffic rules and regulations and how to take safety measures while travelling along with family and friends.
The visitors were given literatures and CDs and the volunteers demonstrated dummies with traffic signals and child seat cars amongst them. The children had a wonderful time with a variety of games added with social messages created and presented by Jamal al Mahrooqi.
One of the major attractions were classic bikes displayed by Nizwa Bikers. The leader of Nizwa Bikers, Ahmed Salim Hamad al Ismaili, shared his riding adventure experiences with the visitors.
Even students and some faculty members from Nizwa University were present with their full team led by Bassem. The volunteers provided writing and painting materials for young children who drew out the best imaginations related to education, health and traffic safety measures. Oman Cancer Association (OCA), Dakhliyah region, was the most impressive lot with over 300 men and women participating in the ‘Walkathon’ from the ROP office to NGM.
Naser Sayed al Shukali, head of OCA, Dakhliyah region, said, “Around 50 participants were lucky to win bicycles, treadmills and cycles from the raffle draw with a message to remain fit.”
