I was particularly impressed with the shape of a new building under construction in Ghubra.
From what it appears, the building is designed like a huge ship, though a rather old fashioned one. It might herald the beginning of fancy architecture in Muscat and is definitely pleasing to the eye.
Somewhat reflective of the glorious seafaring traditions of Oman, one would imagine it to be a museum or amusement centre, but it is said to be an upcoming shopping mall. I’d love to call it ‘Shipping Mall’ given the design and its proximity to the beach – a stone’s throw away. Though not fully complete, this fascinating edifice has already become a popular backdrop for selfies. Once ready, it would turn into a shutterbug’s delight.
